Summary & Strategy:

Sundown is a damage-dealer who is capable of steep escalation as she's driven closer to - and even below 0 HP. As a revenant gunslinger, her deck centers around managing the cartridge tokens symbolizing the ammo in her revolver, spending shots and periodically reloading to prepare yourself for further plays and triggers.

From a damage standpoint, Sundown has a high potential ceiling to her maximum output against a target - but to reach her fullest potential requires riding the line with destruction and readying enough one-shots and cartridges to chain together into a full combination play.

As Sundown is capable of making any villain her nemesis, she is well-suited for backing any variety of teammates in need of a steady source of offensive power.

Bio

Martina Velasco was the daughter of Justinaniano Velasco, a man who would find his place in history as a gunfighter, law enforcement officer, politician and lawyer - prodigal and well-versed in justice and righteousness, but also held in high regard for his scruples and goodly heart. Beneath such tenets Martina was raised, but her relationship was a trying one, and the death of her mother to la vomito - 'yellow fever' - left her heart hardened and temper bitter.

By some turn of fate, one of the few strong bonds Martina formed with her father was an interest in his impressive gun-slinging and marksmanship; Justinaniano was remiss to do so initially, but following Martina's insistence on his tutelage, soon discovered his daughter was a veritable prodigy with a pistol. By her late teens, Martina's agile and ambidextrous gun-play was formidable - albeit almost entirely relegated to target-shooting and visual spectacle.

So came that fateful day on the cusp of Martina's quinceanera; having long-since hung up his hat as a gunfighter, Justinaniano was then mayor to their hometown and well-loved by the community. Though safety had been the norm for years, the flux of conflict to the north had driven a particular band of outlaws into Mexico - bringing MacGraw's Marauders and thunderous ruin to Martina's home and life.

Justinaniano faced down Duncan MacGraw in defense of the town, and though his speed remained impressive, MacGraw was the faster draw and far sharper a shot, slaying the man in front of his daughter. Alone in the world, Martina was engulfed by anger and grief and swore to find and kill MacGraw and his men. However, the Marauders had soon returned to Texas and beyond, and Martina was yet young and left to scrounge for herself.

Whatever paths may have led to an ordinary life for Martina were forever closed that day, and she dedicated her life to finding and putting down men like MacGraw. Dissatisfied with simply relegating herself solely to law and order, she became a bounty hunter and vigilante, keeping herself fed and housed by reaping the rewards of countless wanted posters delivered dead. Martina was not a pious woman, nor was she a shining bastion of good - and her hatred for outlaws outshone all else.

For years she sought MacGraw, venturing beyond Mexico and pursuing the wicked wherever they lied. Where her father had found fame for his tempered justice, Martina was consumed by her need for vengeance - garnering her notoriety in time as the 'pistolera de la muerta' among other monikers. By the time she'd found her way to the end of the trail left by MacGraw's Marauders, even they had heard word of the ruthless bounty hunter cutting a path through their ilk. Martina made it well-known that she wanted to face Duncan MacGraw in a duel, to put an end to things once and for all.

But Duncan now found himself older, much like Justinaniano had been - though no less ruthless a gunfighter himself having never relinquished his banditry all those years. Nevertheless, he had no desire to face an infamous upstart like Velasco in a duel. Instead, he arranged for an ambush, intent on putting Martina down swiftly and decisively with overwhelming force. At sundown, the two met as Martina had bid: the Marauders sprung their ambush. Even as countless outlaws fired on her, Martina left a broad swath of the band slain, pursuing MacGraw across death and devastation, startling MacGraw with her tenacity despite such grievous wounds.

Still, he grew confident in an assured victory, and as the last dwindling rays of sunset cast over them both, he gave Martina the showdown she'd lived for. Despite being at death's door, Martina put Duncan down with a shot through the heart in a decisive draw, before collapsing and accepting death's embrace.

Martina's vengeful pursuits had left her fate in death far less certain than most, stained and strained as her soul was by a lifetime of bloodshed. A clamor seemed fit to condemn her to the same-such company she'd created in the afterlife - but Martina found herself gathered to heed Santa Muerte herself. Wicked rites and rituals had allowed innumerable spirits to return from Mictlan to the world of the living, with Duncan MacGraw among them.

When given the choice to serve and a chance for redemption, Martina did not hesitate: thus she rose again as Sundown, now a grim reaper and undying revenant tasked with tracking down those who have cheated death in their wicked ways.
