Eye Color: White
Birthplace: Unknown
Power Source: Unknown / Cryptid
Group Affiliation: Twilight Vigil
First Appearance: Remnants of Murder #1

Complexity: 3
Summary & Strategy:
Remnant is an unusual support and tank hero, whose deck specializes in escalating the damage targets will take, while only infrequently dealing direct damage himself. Remnant's supporting plays can bring powerful unconventional boons to the team, facilitating bonus powers and filtering desired cards back into their decks as the game proceeds. Additionally, his destruction and target removal options can at times circumvent ordinarily difficult cards to crack.
In order to get the most performance out of Remnant, it is recommended to utilize Cryptic Cryptid and the several means in his deck to retrieve or play it. Don't be afraid to destroy Cryptic Cryptid to mitigate damage - with regular sacrifice and re-playing, alongside his other recovery options, Remnant can be a surprisingly sustainable source of damage soaking for a team. 'Just One More Thing' is a particularly powerful piece of Remnant's kit, potentially allowing you to avoid a second helping of devastating villain plays from previous turns.
Bio
CZ-318 - "The Duskveil Devil"
Entity Manifestation: Humanoid, Cryptid
Threat Assessment: Moderate
Containment Protocol:
Per administration, CZ-318 is to be monitored rather than contained, as previous attempts to detain the subject have proven unsuccessful. Containment corp. personnel are instructed to report observed interactions with CZ-318 but are advised not to interfere unless CZ-318's actions pose a direct threat to personnel.
Due to the nature of CZ-318's manifestation capabilities, continuous tracking is untenable, but the subject has most routinely been observed within an approximate 72 kilometer proximity to Duskveil Falls. [REDACTED] personnel have been embedded in the Duskveil Falls Police Department in order to better monitor the subject's activities.
As CZ-318 appears to produce an obfuscating memetic phenomenon in individuals, intercession against documentation is typically unnecessary. In the event that CZ-318's behavior results in the acquisition of anomalous objects or entities, containment corp. personnel are instructed to intercept and retrieve said articles if at all possible.
Description:
CZ-318 is a humanoid entity standing approximately 2.1 meters tall, resembling a trench coat-clad figure with lupine features. Subject is described as having the skull of a wolf for its head, with a luminescent white glow emanating from its eye sockets. Skull is described as without flesh or fur throughout entire frontal 2/3rds, with black fur and lupine ears occupying the remaining third. Subject commonly wears a fedora hat matching its trench coat, with both articles of a dated design suggesting 1940's - 1950's 'Noir' motif. CZ-318 vocalizes in fluent English, typically in a masculine voice.
CZ-318 appears to behave as an investigative detective, materializing from outside of peripheral observation typically - but has been observed to emerge in direct sight from areas of sufficient shadowy darkness. Subject has been sighted on numerous occasions arriving at crime scenes, most frequently those involving murder, and beginning to interact with law enforcement and witnesses present at the scene. Upon arrival, CZ-318 has been observed to collect evidence and perform interrogations, typically with a friendly demeanor when addressing civilians and a 'professional' countenance when addressing law enforcement.
It has been observed that individuals who interact with CZ-318 infrequently respond to its inhuman appearance with apprehension or fear (detailed analysis prepared by Dr. Stone available in record CF-318-0037.) While most interactions recognize CZ-318 having a 'monstrous' appearance, it has been generally established that a fight-or-flight response only occurs after sufficient provocation or an escalation to hostility with the subject.
CZ-318 is resistant to all known forms of recording and photography and will either appear as a vague and blurry figure or not at all. Eyewitness accounts of subject are outright forgotten by a majority of individuals, with others having vague recollections. Individuals who routinely interact with CZ-318 appear to develop a tolerance for this effect, which is believed to be memetic in nature and consistent with similarly observed 'cryptid' entities.
CZ-318 has demonstrated a consistent behavior pattern of cooperation with those individuals identified as 'innocents' or 'well-intentioned.' Subject appears to possess a significant empathic capacity to intuit the nature and motivation of individuals, and as documented in CF-318-0043 and CF-318-0049 has a greater than 94.58% success rate of correctly identifying responsible suspects. However, CZ-318 appears to follow a rigidity of exposure regarding 'guilty' parties, with an apparent fixation of coaxing said individuals to confess or expose their own culpability inadvertently.
Despite its 'monstrous' visage, CZ-318 does not exhibit hostilities in most circumstances without extended provocation, except in circumstances where identified 'innocent' or 'well-intentioned' individuals are at immediate risk of violence. Subject has demonstrated a willingness to engage in violent conflict with other anomalous entities, particularly those with a moderate or higher threat level. On several occasions, containment corp. personnel have arrived on location to contain a threat only to discover that CZ-318 has already [REDACTED].
Current Status:
CZ-318 remains active and at large in the regional vicinity of Duskveil Falls. Public awareness of the subject remains limited to urban legend and 'cryptid' sightings, but media and surveillance are to be actively intercepted by containment corp. personnel as necessary. CZ-318 is currently believed to collaborate with the vigilante group 'Twilight Vigil' (see CF-318-0127) as a participatory member. Full investigation into the subject's history, origins and motivations is ongoing. All new findings should be immediately forwarded to Dr. Stone per administration.
