Summary & Strategy:
Lalin is a very versatile character whose alternating between human and wolf forms fundamentally changes the nature of each of her plays. By shifting between those states, Lalin can switch up play-styles between offensive output, sustain, support and utility for her team, making her a flexible fit in most lineups.
For her most impactful setup, Lalin can benefit greatly from having A New Moon in play and jockeying forms to access bonus plays and powers. By starting her turn in human form, Lalin can make two plays with A New Moon, use a power to swap to her wolf form, and then still have a bonus power available - which in the most basic examples allows her to use her innate for damage and then switch back to human form. This allows her a steady source of incremental sustain and damage output with minimal setup.
Once you have access to setup such as Prized Akubra, Bowie Knife and Dangerous Game, Lalin can serve as a formidable damage-dealer and her frequent sustain options can provide the team with a damage-soak-ng tank when needed.
Bio
Leader of the 'Twilight Vigil' - a pack of vigilantes keeping watch over the sprawling metropolis of Duskveil Falls and its surrounding region in an effort to protect the innocent - but Lalin was not always the in the line of heroics...
Lalin Laguerre was born and raised not so differently from most in the southern United States - other than the fact that her parents were both part of lines of werewolves spanning back generations. Not that it was much help contending with the ins and outs of growing up in regular society: after all, it's not the kind of thing most should know or find out about.
Nevertheless, Lalin had always looked up to her father and the pair had shared a close bond; when she was twelve, she and her mother had gotten him a hat before he'd set out to spend time as a game warden overseas. He'd write her, talking of dealing with poaches and other pitfalls, but remained there for several years abroad.
Lalin's mother passed when she was sixteen, which led to her father's prompt return. Their bond would grow stronger still, and when Lalin had graduated from high school, she was welcomed into the 'Blue Moon Drifters' with open arms - a broad family of bikers, the lot of them werewolves in her father's pack.
Lalin was more mechanically inclined than most, going on to work as a motorcycle mechanic and occasionally splashing the bar tending scene. Things were not always copacetic, however, and after a fight with her father, Lalin had a falling out with the man - and ultimately, rebellious as any, Lalin separated from the Blue Moon Drifters and her father, striking out on her own for a year.
From time to time, Lalin would receive word passed along in occasional efforts to keep in touch, and she knew that her father went to some lengths to have friends of friends try to keep tabs on her whereabouts and well-being - much as she resented it. It was when her father met a Dr. Renault that things took a turn, and at the time Lalin had no comprehension of just how drastic her world would change.
She'd received two messages from her father some weeks apart: the first, entreating her to return to the pack and offering an apology, a rarity she found. In that letter, he reminisced about Lalin's mother, and had seemingly begun a relationship with 'Crystal' - Dr. Renault, she wagered. That bit was enough to give Lalin hesitation to return, at the time.
In the second message, the contents were scant: 'Vini non, pitit fi. I need you to come home.'
And when she did, her father was no longer the man he used to be...
